Who We Are

What Do Not Record Me represents, who it’s for, and what it does and doesn’t do.

Do Not Record Me is a privacy-first apparel and accessories brand designed to help individuals visually express a personal boundary: a clear request not to be filmed, photographed, recorded, or captured for AI or digital use.

Anyone who wants to:

Reduce unwanted filming or photography

Make their boundary visible without confrontation

Support the idea of consent-first culture

Wear something that quietly says “please don’t record me”

Parents, creators, commuters, gym-goers, travellers, and everyday people use Do Not Record Me differently but for the same reason.

It stands for visual consent.

In a world where cameras are everywhere, Do Not Record Me exists to restore a simple human principle:

Your Image. Your Rules.

Our message is clear in intent:

No consent. No recording.

This is not a legal declaration, it is a visible expression of personal boundaries. A way to say, without confrontation, that you do not wish to be filmed, photographed, recorded, or used for digital or AI-related purposes.

Do Not Record Me is about respect first, enforcement second.

No, wearing Do Not Record Me does not guarantee privacy.

However, in some countries and contexts, clearly expressing non-consent - including through visible signals - may be legally relevant, particularly in relation to publication, commercial use, harassment, or data protection laws.

Recording laws vary widely by country, purpose, and setting. Do Not Record Me does not create universal legal protection, but it can strengthen an individual’s position in certain legal, platform, or dispute-resolution contexts.

Do Not Record Me is a signal, not a shield and a growing effort to make that signal recognised.

As part of this effort, we support a public petition calling on platforms, publishers, and technology providers to recognise clear visual consent signals, such as Do Not Record Me, as a voluntary standard when determining whether content should be captured, published, or retained.

Supporting the petition does not change the current legal status of the products, but helps push toward broader recognition and respect for visual consent.

No, not today.

Wearing Do Not Record Me apparel does not currently create enforceable consent or non-consent under law. Recording laws vary by country and situation, and remain the responsibility of the individual recording and the person being recorded.

Our products communicate intent, not legal force.

However, Do Not Record Me is also an advocacy movement.

We actively support efforts to encourage platforms, publishers, and technology providers to recognise clear visual signals like DNRM as a voluntary standard for respecting personal boundaries.

You can support this effort through our public petition, which calls on platforms, publishers, and technology providers to recognise and respect visual consent signals.

(Participation is optional and does not change the current legal status of the products.)

Products & Orders

Information about made-to-order items, returns, replacements, and order changes.

Possibly, but timing matters.

If your order has not yet entered production or been shipped, we may be able to update the shipping address. Once an order is in production or has been dispatched, changes are no longer possible.

If you need to update your address, contact us as soon as possible with your order number and the correct details, and we’ll do our best to help.

Once your order is placed successfully, you’ll receive an order confirmation email at the address you provided during checkout.

This email confirms that:

• Your payment was completed successfully

• Your order has been received

• Production or fulfilment will begin shortly

If you don’t see the confirmation email, please check your spam or junk folder. If it’s still missing, feel free to contact us and we’ll confirm your order status for you.

Yes.

All products are made to order, meaning they are produced only after an order is placed.

Because our products are made to order, we do not accept returns or exchanges for change of mind, size, or preference.

However, if your item arrives defective or incorrect, we’ll make it right. Issues must be reported within 7 days of delivery with clear photos.

If your item is defective, damaged, or incorrect:

Contact us within 7 days

Include clear photographic evidence

Where possible, we issue a replacement before a refund. Defective items do not need to be returned.

Orders cannot be modified or cancelled once production has started. Production usually begins shortly after payment is processed.

If you experience any issue with your order or the product you received, please contact us as soon as possible.

This includes situations such as:

• An item arriving damaged or defective

• Receiving the wrong product

• Print or quality issues

Any other concern with your order

When you contact us, please include your order number and a brief description of the issue. Photos are helpful where relevant. Once reviewed, we’ll work with you to resolve the issue in line with our returns and replacement policy.

Our goal is to make sure you receive what you ordered, in the condition it was intended to arrive.

Shipping & Delivery

Delivery times, shipping, customs, and what happens if something goes wrong.

If your order hasn’t arrived within the expected delivery timeframe, the first step is to check your shipping confirmation email for tracking information.

In some cases, delays can occur due to customs clearance, local courier issues, or high delivery volumes.

If tracking hasn’t updated for an extended period or your order appears lost, please contact us with your order number. We’ll investigate and work with the shipping provider to resolve the issue.

Yes, we ship to most countries.

Shipping times and costs vary by destination and are calculated at checkout.

Typical timelines (excluding production):

Domestic: 3–7 business days

International: 7–21 business days

Delivery times are estimates and not guaranteed. Customs and local carriers may cause delays.

Possibly.

Customs duties, VAT, or import taxes are the customer’s responsibility unless explicitly included at checkout.

If tracking shows no movement for:

14 days (domestic), or

30 days (international),

and the carrier confirms the issue, we’ll reprint and resend your order at no additional cost.

If there’s an issue with shipping or delivery, the first step is to check your shipping confirmation email for tracking information.

Shipping delays can occasionally occur due to:

• Customs processing

• Local courier delays

• Weather or regional disruptions

If tracking hasn’t updated for an extended period, your order appears delayed, or something doesn’t look right, please contact us with your order number. We’ll investigate and work with the shipping provider to help resolve the situation.

If an order is confirmed as lost, we’ll guide you through the next steps in line with our shipping policy.

Payment & Security

How we process payments, what we store, and how recognised providers handle transactions.

We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay for your convenience.

No.

Payment information is processed securely by trusted third-party payment providers such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Shop Pay, Discover, UnionPay, and related networks.

Do Not Record Me does not store:

Full card numbers

CVV or security codes

Bank account credentials

Payment details are handled directly by the payment provider and Shopify’s secure checkout infrastructure.

All payments are processed through Shopify’s PCI-compliant checkout system and the relevant payment networks.

This means:

Card details are encrypted in transit

Sensitive payment data is handled by the payment provider, not us

We only receive confirmation that payment was successful

At no point do we have access to your full payment credentials.

Yes.

Payment providers may collect and process information necessary to:

Complete the transaction

Prevent fraud

Comply with financial regulations

This processing is governed by each provider’s own privacy and security policies, not ours.

Do Not Record Me does not control or expand how payment providers use this information.

Yes, in a privacy-positive way.

These services use tokenisation, meaning:

Your actual card number is not shared with us

A secure, temporary token is used instead

This reduces the amount of sensitive data exposed during checkout.

We display supported payment providers to:

Give customers secure, familiar checkout options

Allow privacy-enhancing payment methods where available

Reduce the need to manually enter card details

Choice is part of privacy.

Payment failures or declines are usually handled by your bank or payment provider, not by us.

This can happen for reasons such as:

Insufficient funds

Bank security checks

Incorrect billing details

Temporary issues with the payment network

If a payment fails, no order is placed and no charge is completed. You can try again using the same method or choose a different payment option.

If you continue to experience issues, we recommend contacting your bank or payment provider directly, as they can see the specific reason for the decline.

No. We do not intentionally charge customers more than once for the same order.

In rare cases, a temporary “pending” charge may appear if a payment attempt is interrupted or fails. These pending charges are automatically released by your bank or payment provider and do not result in a completed transaction.

If you believe you’ve been charged more than once, please contact us with your order details. We’ll review the transaction and resolve the issue promptly.

Yes.

You may use different billing and shipping addresses during checkout. This is common for gifts, shared payment methods, or deliveries to work or alternate locations.

Please note that some payment providers may perform address verification checks for security purposes. If a payment is declined due to a mismatch, your provider may ask you to confirm or update your billing details.

No.

Do Not Record Me does not store payment details for future purchases.

If you choose to use services such as Shop Pay, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, any saved payment information is stored securely by those providers, not by us. We do not have access to stored card details and cannot view or reuse them.

You remain in control of any saved payment preferences through the payment provider you choose.

If you experience a payment-related issue, please contact us first so we can review your order and transaction status.

If the issue relates to a declined payment, pending charge, or bank verification, your bank or payment provider may need to assist, as they control the final approval of the transaction.

We’re always happy to help guide you to the right next step.

Privacy & Data

What information we collect, what we avoid, and how privacy shapes everything we do.

No, we do not use personal data from our website or customer orders for advertising.

Do Not Record Me may run advertising campaigns on external platforms (such as search engines or social media) to promote our products and advocacy efforts.

However, we do not:

Use customer order data for advertising

Retarget visitors based on purchases or browsing behaviour

Upload customer lists for advertising purposes

Sell, rent, or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers

Advertising platforms may process their own aggregated or contextual data in accordance with their policies, but we do not connect those systems to our customer or order information.

We collect and use personal information only to:

Fulfil orders

Provide customer support

Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations

Our store is hosted on Shopify, which processes limited technical data necessary to operate the website securely. We do not use Shopify customer data for advertising or behavioural profiling.

Only as long as necessary for:

Order fulfilment

Customer support

Legal and accounting requirements

Non-essential data is deleted or anonymised. You can request deletion at any time, subject to legal obligations.

We use only essential cookies required for the website and checkout to function securely.

We do not use cookies for:

Advertising

Behavioural tracking

Cross-site profiling

Retargeting

Any essential cookies are limited to functionality, security, and fraud prevention.

No.

We do not use:

Google Analytics

Meta (Facebook) Pixel

TikTok Pixel

Behavioural analytics or heat-mapping tools

We do not track how individuals move through the site.

Our advertising is contextual, not personal.

Ads may be shown based on:

Search terms

Content context

Broad, non-identifiable criteria set by the advertising platform

They are not based on your activity on our website or your purchase history.

No.

We do not build profiles, scores, or behavioural histories about customers or visitors.

There is no internal “user profile” beyond what is strictly required to fulfil an order or respond to support requests.

Yes, but only what is necessary.

To deliver your order, we share limited information (such as name and shipping address) with fulfilment and shipping partners. This data is used only to produce and deliver your order and not for marketing or profiling.

No.

We do not:

Train AI models

License data for AI training

Share data with AI developers

Your data is never used for machine learning, facial recognition, or biometric systems.

Because the core idea behind Do Not Record Me is privacy.

We believe privacy is a baseline right, not something that must be negotiated, requested, or justified after the fact.

In a world where recording, tracking, and data capture are increasingly default, Do Not Record Me exists to reassert a simple principle:

People should not have to opt out of being watched.

That belief shapes everything we do -from the products we design to how little data we collect, store, or share.

PRIVACY IS A RIGHT,
NOT A LUXURY!

Every time you step into public, your image is captured by smartphones, surveillance feeds, and AI scrapers. Being visible has been mistaken for giving permission to record you without your knowledge.

Do Not Record Me is fighting back with a two-part system to restore your visual consent. First, our purpose-built clothing acts as a real-world "opt-out" button, sending a clear signal that you do not consent to being filmed.

Second, we built the software: Watch the live demo on the right!

To prove automated privacy is a reality, we’ve published a free, open-source computer vision solution that actively detects our DNRM apparel and dynamically blurs your face in real time.

Now that the technology exists, tech giants should adopt the standard.
